Alright folks, yet another week of painting has ended. So what was done ? Well, quite a bit ! Starting off, The kingdom death starter set. Past Friday they were only primed and pre-shaded. Here is their evolution, starting with skin and cloth. I spent far too long on the skin, starting with the airbrush of shadows, mid tones, light tones and highlights to then be more refined with lots of glazes. But considering the end result, it was well worth the time, especially for the owner who will get more than what was planned haha
Following, that,... the rest of the details. As for the mask, I tried to do something of obsidian / jade mix which, I think, looks really good, especially now with some gloss varnish on them.
So, that's the survivors done.
There is still the lion to do.
With that, that commission is now completed.
Now... order completed. What to do next ?
Next commission ? humm... Still waiting for one model to arrive at the studio.
No, let's have some fun for the studio's collection.
Something I wanted to paint for a looonnng time, ever since i played Horizon zero dawn a few years ago. A thunderjaw.
Thankfully, I took part in the Kickstarter for the Horizon board game made by Steam forge Games and Guerrilla. Meaning... I have one such model in stock !
First things first, The main colors are lay down and varnished to protect them for the next step.
Once the varnish is dry... Some brown and Black oil paints, some mineral spirit, and oil wash time ! Once the washes are dry to the touch a piece of tissue wet with mineral spirit to clean up. And that's what we are left with.
Then comes the scratches and paint chipping.
Which leaves us with the base to do.
Satin varnish to protect the model and... I can call it done !
And, I am very happy with how this thing turned out.
Now, I need to find a new display cabinet to fit all the Horizon stuff and my Rohan army.
But wait !
I still have a day and a half before The week end !
What to do, what to do ?
The stormsurge I'm waiting for has not shown up yet... Well.... Since I just painted one Giant Dino bot.... Why not add some more to the collection ?
A bit of digging in my boxes and I found a expansion set that looks fun to paint.
Let's go, Sacred land expansion.
No, one large model this time but multiple smaller and medium ones
Main colors down
Then, oil washes, scratches, details.
Which leaves me with the bases to finish as well as the huge sludge back on the tick like robots. That's it for the week, very happy with the production on the past fives days especially considering that some of the models are to stay here instead of flying off to the end of the world haha Familly picture of the week :
See you next week end with the next batch produced !
